| Where to Go? ask orphans of militancy | | Horrifying memories of militant violence still haunt the little minds | |
Sanjay Khajuria Jammu June 3 Where to go in this world of loneliness? is a crude question in the minds of orphans on the eve of the June 4 International Day of Innocent Children Victim of Aggression that is likely to be observed on June 4 globally. These tender hearts shivers to recall the horrid memories of violence to little raw minds to the communal and racial violence that ripped them of their human relations during the peak militancy regime. Worth to mention ever since the outbreak of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, several thousand children have been orphaned as a result of the ongoing conflict in the region. The state has utterly done very little for these children, who have, by and large, been left to their cruel fate. Ashwani Kumar from Dessa village of Doda District has completely different childhood from the others who roam on the screaming bikes with their Mobiles plugged to hands-free accessories. He studied at SOS Home Talab Tillo and is working as a machine operator at Nescafe Counter to shoulder his family. A simple chat with him will make you to feel the difference that he is far matured and experienced to many who are much older to him. However he doesn’t want to go in past and dig out the bone chilling memories that forced him to have a different childhood and lodged him in an ‘alien world’ of people at Talab Tillo. “Initially I was scared in the new place but as soon as I realized that I am not alone but there are many like students some even younger to me has made to compromise with the circumstances, he said like an old hand who had lived a good lifetime. Sanjeev Parihar president Social Reforms and Charitable Organization Kishtwar who also manages the Ashiana an orphanage in Kishtwar told The Early Times admitingly said that the life is not a bed of roses for these special children in society. However he proudly claims said though following the inherited values from our beloved father Sewa Ram Parihar noted social reformer and MLC (two timer) we leave no space to feel inmates in Ashiana alone but the natural emotions really at time haunt them bitterly leaving them in wet eyes tears rolling down on their innocent faces. ‘Though they become used to and excitedly share their feelings with the staff at Ashiana but all we know all these little souls have heavy sadness that they carry deep beneath their heart, Sanjeev said and these little minds are so matured that knowing the fact that none can help them out prefer to compromise the circumstances coming them.’ Ashiana offers a picture of bouquet as inmates come from different communities but they all seem friendly enough with each other and express their gratitude to 9 Sector RR (Army) which constructed building for them under Operation Sadhbhavna two year ago January 2005, Sanjeev Parihar asserted. It is to mention that some such victims of militancy are pushing for their further lives at Bal Niketan Ved Mandir Ambphalla where Army again has constructed building to upgrade the infrastructure, SOS Talab Tillo and SOS Home Chani Himmat. The woeful tale of these victim of militancy is the same some had lost father while some had lost both but responsibility of government becomes more towards them to provide some livelihood as after completion of studies they are abandoned by the homes. Many of these children pass out from SOS homes with a simple query ‘where do we now go’ till today are roaming on the unending roads of Jammu in a hope for a better future.
