| Sharma hails PM’s decision on Central University | | |
Jammu June 4-
Appreciating the decision of the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh for setting up one Central University in each State, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary and MLC Ashok Sharma has said that this step would help improve the reach and quality of higher education across the country.
He demanded that the University be opened at Kalakote as with the construction of Mughal road, the Kalakote has become a central place between Kashmir valley and the Jammu division benefiting students of both the divisions.
He also urged for setting up of a Degree college at Kalakote to provide facilities of higher education to the youth of this far flung and backward area nearer to their homes.
He also lauded the efforts of the Chief Minister for promotion of technical and higher education in the state by creating chain of university campuses, degree colleges, polytechnic and industrial training institutes and thanked UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, PM and other central leaders for providing liberal funding for the purpose.
