| SP holds Rajasthan Govt. responsible for killings | | SSH extends support to Gujjars | |
Jammu June 4— Blaming Vasundra Government for hurting the sentiments of Hindu’s, the activists of state unit of Shiv Sena Hindustan (SSH) today burnt the effigy of Rajasthan government here today., while the SP leaders criticized the Rajasthan Government for resorting to oppressive measures including shooting down nearly two dozen Gujjar protestors who were demanding reservation for them. HSS President Dimpy Kohli, while extending his party full support to the Gujjars, demanded apology from the Vasundra Raje Government for hurting the sentiments of Hindu community by publishing a controversial calendar The activists held a protest demonstration and raised anti- BJP slogans and blamed Rajasthan government for the killing of innocent Gujjars. ‘We also support the whole Gujjar community in their demand for the reservation’, said Rajesh Kesri, General Secretary. He also alleged that the BJP is a selfish party and for their vested interests the party is killing the innocent people. He also demand apology from the Raje Government for showing herself as the Goddess Mata Annpurna in the calendar. Dimpy Kohli, President SSH justifying the demands of the Gujjars advised the Rajasthan Government to provide reservation to Gujjar community and maintained that Gujjars residing in the different parts of country can’t be deprived of their due rights. Among others, who participated in the demonstration, were Shiv Kumar, Raj Kumar Chowdhary, Krishan Singh Salaria, Ramesh Gupta, Sanjeev Kumar, Balbir Singh and Rajneesh Gandhi. In the meantime, SP leaders in a joint statement issued here today have strongly criticized the Rajasthan government for unleashing a reign of terror and held it responsible for the killing of over two dozen Gujjars, who were protesting for their rights. The party General Secretary Sham Lal Mahasha and President SC/ST Tribals Morcha Ch.Javed Ahmed have blamed the government for not accepting the genuine demand of the community as was promised during the last Assembly elections in the state. While expressing solidarity with the agitating Gujjars of Rajasthan, these leaders have asked the CM Mrs. Vasundera Raje to accept the demand for granting ST status to the community at the earliest as any further delay would be complicate the situation. They maintained that there was no reason to deny this status to the Gujjars of Rajasthan as their fellow brethren in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir stand brought on ST category long back. They have also appealed the Gujjar leaders, who are spearheading the agitation, not to resort to violence and destruction of property during the course of their stir.
