While the representatives from all over the world will be delivering their lectures on the global warming on and for the savior of the melting snow at Norway to mark the World Environment Day 2007, the forest wealth worth crores in state in Reasi forests is under fire with people and concerned department watching the havoc of fire.
Anupam Sharma a collegiate worried over the changing trends of the weather said like past years the government and concerned department will hold seminars over the afforestation and to express serious concerns over the depleting forests but only for the one day. ‘The plundering of forest wealth continues throughout the year perhaps even on the day when the speakers from the specially organized occasion will put high stakes to save the forest and that too just for the coming generations and to help the global environmental bodies in restoring the lost charm of the Blue Planet- The Earth, he said.
It is to mention that the theme of World Environment Day 2007 is related to the shrinking and melting of the ice sheets and glaciers all across the world and it entitled as the ‘Melting ice- a Hot Topic? The concerns about the environmental degradation were tables during the United Nations General Assembly in 1972, which established the celebration of the day during the opening session of Stockholm Conference dedicated to Human Environment. This the said global conference on environment to mark the world Environment Day-07 has been scheduled at Norway which is hosting “two day long environment conference i.e.June4-5. Experts of the subject also mentioned that this is not the year when the people across the world have come together to raise an alarm against the global warming especially related to the rising temperature in the recent past they had dedicated the WEDs to judicious use of water, afforestation and to save the marine fauna and flora the global nations unanimously decided to dedicate Year-2004 expressing concerns over the changing environment at marine life with the theme of year “Wanted Seas and Oceans-Dead or Alive’.
They also observed that the on going ‘Green House Effect’ due to the increased emissions of the carbon floro-gases including carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and other hazardous emissions from automobiles and the industrial sector from developed and under developing nations is resulting into the rise of normal temperature every year from 1.80C-2.0+0C. ‘This resultantly is making the glaciers and other ice bodies on the earth to melt down and experts predicted that this melting down will rise the water level of the seas and oceans upto a level that millions of people residing besides the seashores will be uprooted by the year 2050.
