A permanent Lok Adalat was held here today under the chairmanship of Mr. Janak Raj Kotwal, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Session Judge, Jammu.
In the Lok Adalat headed Mr. Kotwal and assisted by Additional District and Session Judge, Jammu, Mr. R. S. Jain and President Officer, MACT. Jammu, Mr. S. S. Sarangal, to deal with matrimonial and MACT cases. Two matrimonial cases were taken up and one settled, 12 MACT cases were taken up and settled and compensation of Rs. 4.50 lakh was provided.
Representatives of New India Assurance Company, students of Jammu University Law Department, Advocates and litigants were also present. Next Lok Adalat would be held on July 5, 2007.
