| Animal Husbandry Kathua treats 73240 animals | | |
KATHUA, JUNE 05 Animal Husbandry Department, Kathua treated 41659 animals against non-contagious diseases upto ending of May of current financial year. The department has vaccinated 8590 animals against different diseases while dosings were given to 22991 animals against intestinal worms and liver fluke. Under Cattle Development Programme, artificial insemination was done to 5218 and natural services were given to 41 local cows. A result 2110 births were recorded under artificial insemination and 58 births were recorded under natural services. Apart from this, 2790 castrations were also performed during the period. Under Poultry Development scheme, 4517 eggs were received from Poultry Grid and 242000 vaccinated. The department has recorded 3.22 lakh kg mutton production upto the ending May, 2007. Besides, the department gave dosings to 56647 and dipping to 34338 sheep and goats besides vaccination to 32100 and treatment to 13863 sheep and goats. The department distributed 745 rams among the sheep and goats rearers for breeding purposes. Moreover, 9093 castrations were also performed during the period.
