| Charak dedicates 2-footbridges to people | | |
SRINAGAR, JUNE 05 - Minister for Roads and Buildings Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak has dedicated two footbridges to people of Banihal and Sher-Bibi of district Ramban. These bridges connect a large number of habitations of these areas residing in this hilly district. The footbridges at Shaban Bass (Banihal) costing Rs 39.80 lakh is 57-mtr long while footbridge at Sher-Bibi costing Rs 40 lakh over Bichlari nallah is 30 mtr long. These were the long pending demands of the people of these areas as they were facing a lot of problems particularly in rainy season. Mr. Charak also laid foundation of 7.50 k.mtr long Ukheral-Maligam road being upgraded at a cot of Rs 3.21 crore under NABARD funding. He directed the executing agency to speed up the construction work to complete the ambitious project within prescribed time. He also asked the engineers to monitor all the construction personally to ensure the quality work. Addressing a number of public meetings at Banihal, Ukhral and Ramnban, Mr. Charak said that upto 2009 all the habitations having 250 souls population would be connected with main roads. He said that government is committed to provide better road connectivity in all nooks and corners of the state, which he said is imperative for economic development. He said number of scheme have been launched in the state under centre and state funding and it is our duty to utilize these funds judiciously. Later, the Minister also convened a meeting at Ramban to review the developmental works of the district. The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Higher Education Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Minister of State for PHE, Industries & Commerce Mr. Romesh Sharma, MLA Banihal Moulvi Abdul Rashid and other senior officers of the district.
