Hakeem reviews Budgam development
Kachwari to be developed as tourist village

SRINAGAR, JUNE 05
- Government has launched a massive road connectivity programme in Budgam district. Under which 157 road projects have been taken at a cost of Rs 124.40 crore.
This was disclosed by the Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen at a high level officers meeting here today. The meeting was convened to review the implementation and achievements registered in tourism, education, R&B and Health Sectors in the district.
Hakeem Yaseen said that mechanization of all major roads is being taken up shortly in the district, besides connecting all towns and villages with the district headquarter adding that another Rs. 1,80 crore have been earmarked for R&B sector in the district plan for current year.
The Minister said that Rs 20 crore plan for development of basic tourist infrastructure at Doodhpathri have been earmarked and under the plan construction of Eco-Park, Adventure, Complex and parking slot is being taken up in the first phase. He said government has formulated a comprehensive project for development of village "Kachwari" as a tourist village adding that the project has been sent to the central government for approval and release of funds. In addition tourist spots Tossamaidan, Sutharan and Palamaidan would also be developed as tourist distinctions, Hakeem maintained. He said the traditional "Kothas" around the Doodhpathri tourist spot would be developed and renovated to provide lodging facilities to the visiting tourists. He said government has already sanctioned Rs 20 crore for construction of Bugroo-Doodhpathri tourist road.
Hakeem Yaseen said that special attention would be given to strengthen the infrastructure of Health sector in the district, saying that new hospital buildings would be constructed at Krimshore, Sholipore, Shamasabad, Drung, Khag and other places. For the purpose additional Rs 2 crore would be provided, he said. He stressed for strengthening of basic infrastructure in sub-district hospitals adding that Rs 85 lakh have been allotted for repairs and renovation of old hospital buildings in the district. The Minister also announced that a modern type hospital with latest facilities would be set up at Pakherpora at a cost of Rs 6 crore. The Minister said that under education sector 24 school buildings at a cost of Rs 6.25 crore are nearing completion in the district.
The meeting also discussed in detail extraction of clay from various places in the district and decided that the trucks and tippers being used for carrying the clay would be allowed to operate during night hours.
Among others the meeting was attended by the District Development Commissioner Budgam Kh. Farooq Renzu, Director Tourism Mr. Farooq Shah, Director Local Bodies Kashmir Mr. Mohammad Abass and senior officers of the district administration Budgam.
