| Karra for early implementation of budget | | |
Srinagar, June 05 Minister for Finance and Planning Mr. Tariq Hamid Karra has called upon various departments to strictly ensure the implementation of various budget announcements made during the budget speech, cautioning that any delay or deviation in this regard would be taken seriously. The Minister was addressing a high level officers meeting held to review the implementation of various decisions taken during the budget session of Legislature. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to Planning Mr. S.S. Kapoor, Principal Secretary GAD, Mr. Khursheed Ahmed Ganai, Principal Secretary Agriculture, Mr. S.S. Sahani, Commissioner Secretary Finance Mr. B.B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretary Industries Mr. Lokesh Jha, Secretary Tourism Mr. Nayeem Akhtar, Secretary Health Mr. K.B. Jandial, Secretary Housing Mrs. Naseema Lanker, Secretary R&B Mr. M.N. Shalinder Kumar, Secretary PHE, Mr. Mehboob Iqbal besides Heads of various departments. The Minister said that though some progress has been made in achieving the targets but lot more remains to be done. He expressed dismay over the slow pace of work being carried out by certain departments for translating the decisions into action. He said these decisions have already been approved by Cabinet adding that any further delay defeats the purpose of these decisions. Mr. Karra urged for early execution of these decisions in letter and spirit and fixed one month's period for their effective implementation. He warned that any further delay would be reflected in performances reports of officers. Earlier, threadbare discussions were held for tackling various issues emphasizing on employment, tourism, handicrafts and other related sectors. The departments were asked to come up with proposals showing the list of various schemes where adequate funds would be released for their early execution.
