| FLOOD RELIEF MEASURES BY ARMY IN LADAKH REGION | | | Udhampur, Jul 09, 2006
Sustained and continued flood relief operations are being carried out by Army in Ladakh. Rescue missions have been launched for evacuation tourists including foreigners marooned in Zaxskar Valley. Four US tourists have been evacuated already.
GOC Headquarters 14 Corps visited Marhka and Fara villages in Zaxskar Valley to personally monitor rescue operation and interact with villagers. Over a tonne of food materials and medicines have been airdropped. The affected villagers and tourists had first contact after six days and expressed gratitude to the Army for their assistance. |
