Hakim for proper & optimal utilization of SRTC assets

SRINAGAR, JUNE 06
- Minister for Transport Hakim Mohammad Yaseen said on Wednesday that the Government is planning to make proper utilization of all the assets of J&K SRTC in the State on a joint venture basis with various private agencies including J&K Bank to bring out the Corporation out of huge losses and ensure its sustained viability.
Speaking at a high level officers meeting, Hakim Yaseen said the SRTC owes huge liability on account of salaries, CP/GP fund of its employees, which need huge amount to liquidate. He said the issue was discussed at various levels saying that the Government has now reached to a conclusion to make a proper use of the assets belonging to the SRTC to bring out the Corporation from its huge losses and fulfill the liabilities of its employees.
Among others, the Chairman J&K Bank Dr. Haseeb Draboo, Commissioner/Secretary Transport, Mr. Devinder Nargotra, Managing Director SRTC, Mr. G.N. Sofi, General Manager SRTC Administration Mr. Yogesh Koul and senior officers of the J&K Bank and SRTC attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed threadbare proper use of non-productive assets and decided to utilize properly the assets of the Corporation at Panama Chowk, Railway Head and Pathankote in Jammu division and Sangam and Pahalgam in the Kashmir division in the first phase.
The Chairman J&K Bank agreed in the meeting to bid for the assets identified by SRTC. The meeting decided to constitute a joint committee of the officers of J&K Bank and SRTC to frame the modalities for using the assets in a proper way. The committee has been asked to give their report with regard to fixation of the rates of assets within next 15 days.
The meeting also decided to frame a expert committee consisting of senior officers of the J&K Bank, Transport Department and SRTC besides Finance which would examine the re-structuring of SRTC to run it on proper lines.
