| Tarigami for timely utilization of funds | | | SRINAGAR, JUNE 06 - State Secretary CPI (M) and MLA Kulgam Mr. M. Y. Tarigami has urged for proper and timely utilization of funds released under various centrally sponsored schemes. He said that delay in spending these funds adversely tells upon the developmental scenario. Mr. Tarigami said here today that non-utilization of funds has defeated the purpose of the schemes and added that works under APDRP launched in Power Development Sector require all the more attention in this regard. He said that under APDRP the state has been provided Rs 95 crore, which remained un-utilized. Mr. Tarigami said that like Power Development Department, some other departments are also having lacuna in fund utilization and added that all such departments be made accountable for such negligence. Mr. Tarigami appealed the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad to personally intervene in the matter and ensure funds are utilized full-stipulated time frame. He said that Mr. Azad has capacity of roping in huge investment and funds from centre, however, he said utilization lies with government functionaries. Meanwhile, MLA Wachi (CPIM) Mr. Khalil Naik also stressed for the modernization of power distribution and transmission system in rural areas. He also demanded adequate power supply and early repairs of damaged electric transformers.
