Rs. 31 crore road projects under ADB, PMGSY for Tral, Awantipora: Bandh

Srinagar, June 06
- Two road projects have been approved under Pradhan Mantri Graham Sadak Yojana and Asian Development Bank funding for Tral and Awantipora areas of Pulwama district. The work on the projects would be started by next month.
This was stated by Minister of State for R&B and Sheep Husbandry Mr. Mohammad Khalil Bandh in a meeting of officers at Tral today.
Mr. Bandh said that under PMGSY Rs. 20 crore would be spent on upgradation and renovation of 17.5 km long Tral-Narsthan road while as Rs. 11 crore have been sanctioned under ADB funding for 13 km long Awantipora-Tral-Dadsara road. He said that the formalities for the execution of these roads have been completed and the construction work would take off very soon.
Mr. Bandh said that road connectivity is of prime importance for boosting the economy and improving the living standard of the people and added that the sector has been accorded priority by the present government. He said that efforts are on to provide road connectivity to every habitation of the state in next few years to facilitate the unconnected population of rural and far off areas.
Impressing upon the officers to redouble their efforts for timely completion of execution works, Mr. Bandh said that the involvement of people in monitoring the execution is imperative. He asked the officers to consult locals for identifying the works to be taken up for the execution as per their needs. He also directed the officers and engineers for making proper and judicious use of allocations adding that the presently state is flooded with huge funds from the central government.
Later, the Minister also interacted with the people from different areas of Tral tehsil who had come with their problems to be brought to the notice of district administration Pulwama. He said that for the purpose Public Darbars are being organized at district and tehsils levels to facilitate easy access of the people to the administration for getting their problems mitigated.with their problems to be brought to the notice of district administration Pulwama.
