Jammu June 6, 2007: A day long programme on environment awareness was organised by Coca Cola India in association with ADI Gram Samittee (Regd) at Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar Jammu here today. Discussion on Disposal of wastes, Consequences and Awareness marked the special feature of the programme. Besides a skit on Environment Day presented by the local artists was highly appreciated by the audience, including the special guests, as the same conveyed, in a subtle manner, the importance of environment protection.
T S Bajwa, Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) was the Chief Guest at the inaugural function. The other special guests included Sh. Narender Singh Jamwal, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Ram Sahai, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu, A K Gupta Regional Director J&K Pollution Control Board, Dr Rajinder Peshin, Asstt Proffesor Division SKUAST, Neelu Sharma Scientist, Pollution Control Board Jammu, Major M S Manhas, Associate NCC officer, Dr. Arti Bakshi, Reader Psychology Deptt, Jammu University and Principal Government College for women Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
The welcome address was presented by Mr Pankaj Thapliyal, GM Coke and Dr. Arti Bakshi Vice President NGO. Momentous and certificates were distributed among the participants in the discussion and the artists who presented the skit. In all about 400 people participated in the programme which included academicians, Municipal Corporators, NCC cadets, industrialists and representatives from various NGOs.
