| Speaker holds public darbar, redress day today people’s problems | | Charak assures road connectivity to every village by 2009 | |
KHOUR, JUNE 07 Speaker Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand today hold a public darbar in Khour block to redress the day today problems of the people on-the-spot. Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak, Member Parliament Mr. Madan Lal Sharma, MLA Akhnoor Mr. Sham Lal Sharma, senior congress leader Thakur Balwan Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development Mr. A. A. Mirza, Chairman Municipal Committee Mr. Om Parkash, Block Development Officer Khour and other senior officers of PHE, PDD, RDD, Irrigation and Flood Control were also present. Interacting with the people, Speaker said that coalition government headed by Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad is fully committed to expand road connectivity and provide basic amenities of life to the people with a focus on border and rural areas of the state for ensuring economic prosperity of the poor people. He exhorted upon the officers of different departments to put in their sincere efforts in execution of development works to the entire satisfaction of the public so that people could get the facilities of roads, education, healthcare, drinking water etc at their doorsteps. He called for focusing utmost attention on speedy execution of new road projects so that the people, who are still deprived of road connectivity, could avail this facility for their socio-economic transformation. Speaker said that the Chief Minister has issued clear cut directives to ministerial colleagues and senior officers to pay frequent visits to every nook and corner of the state to monitor the quality of works under execution so that all section of the society could reap the fruits of development in their areas as early as possible. He called upon the people to extend their complete cooperation to the executing agencies in completing the development works within prescribed time. He asked the engineers to go to people and solved their problems at their doorsteps so that they do not face any inconvenience. Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak in his address said that Rs. 1500 crore have been released for completion of ongoing and new road projects while Rs. 4500 crore would be incurred on road projects by the year 2009 with an aim of providing road connectivity to every village of the state having a population of 300 souls. He also stated that work on construction of Khour to Kharrah and Kharrah to Balli, the present government has sanctioned Rs. 6.32 crore under NABARD and the work would be started soon before ensuing rainy season. He exhorted upon the people to act as ear and eyes on behalf of government while any type of development work is taken up in their surroundings so that executing agency refrain themselves from using sub-standard material and norms. He said that the assets so created after huge investment ultimately belong to the people of the vicinity for their use. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharma said that the centre government has launched number of schemes in J&K state for upliftment of socio-economic condition of the border as well as rural areas people. He said that the present government in J&K state is fully aware with the problems of all section of the society. MLA Akhnoor Mr. Sham Lal Sharma highlighted the achievements of present government in the state made during 5 years. Senior Congress leader and District Congress President Thakur Balwan Singh also spoke on the occasion.
