| 380 kanal brought under hybrid vegetable cultivation | | | UDHAMPUR, JUNE 07 To acquaint the farmers of zone Panchari of Bhumagh area with the latest techniques in farming and use of hybrid seeds of traditional crops and vegetables in particular in district Udhampur, the Agriculture department organized a farmers awareness camp at village Kharu of Galeote Circle yesterday where more than 50 farmers including Ex-Sarpanches and panches participated. Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) of Agriculture Zone Panchari, Mr. Gopal Sharma accompanied by two Junior Agriculture Assistants, Mr. Romesh Chander Sharma and Mr. Des Raj claimed that in an effort of the department to boost agriculture and vegetable production in such inaccessible area his party was first to reach the spot by conducting on-foot journey by 9 hours. They delivered lectures on latest trends in farming, use of hybrid seeds, pesticides and manures to increase agriculture production. The AEO further revealed that to boost cash crop vegetable production under Technology Mission in Panchari Zone, the department has distributed hybrid seeds of Knol - Khol, Tomato, Cauli-flower, Cabbage, Chilly, Brinjal and Ladyfinger to nearly 100 vegetables growers covering 380 kanal area in the Zone under hybrid vegetable production. 50 demonstration plots of maize crop and 10 plots of fodder have also been raised, the AEO added.
