| Its official now: Infiltration is backed by Pakistan | | Pak Army elements backing infiltration says Army Chief General JJ Singh | |
SANJAY KHAJURIA JAMMU JUNE 7 ‘Elements in the Pakistan Army" are backing the infiltration of militants into India from across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir,’ Army Chief General JJ Singh said on Wednesday talking to media persons at New Delhi. And this came shot in the arm to the intelligence agencies that already had communicated vital inputs about the increase in infiltration to the concerned ministries e.g. Ministry for Home and Ministry for Defence. Substantiating his words Army chief asserted, ‘We have reports to suggest some elements of the Pakistan Army, including the Inter-Services Intelligence, are helping to push the militants across." And all this has set speculations and apprehensions among people about more terrorist violence in coming days. An as a matter of fact the ‘increased infiltration across the LoC and International Border’ and the recent unleashing of violence in state has put the security agencies and belt forces to sense a deeper game plan to resurrect the terror regime. Sources also said the agencies are now burning midnight oil to sense the impact of the recently emerged situations with their think tanks keeping their heads together to chalk out fool-proof strategies to counter terrorist plans. Expressing concerns over Rakesh Sharma a shopkeeper in Karananagar said, “if you assume only 100 of the trained and armed terrorists have successfully infiltrated in Indian side what will happen?’ He asked would they be just sleeping dogs instead they would run like blood thirsty hounds on the command of their trainers/holders. And infact keeping the same assumption before hand the security forces are on their heels while UPA government is taking friendly steps to keep the PDP in good humour within the coalition on the ‘Demilitarization issue’ he added. For inept in recent past fortnight not only infiltration bids were foiled in various sectors of the state but security forces recovered a large quantity of ammunition and automatic weapons along with the other accessories including wire cutter and wireless sets and satellite phones from hide outs and during the infiltration bids foiled. Statistics of infiltration in fact are worrisome and concerning that infiltration witnessed a two-fold jump in April and May 2007 as compared to that of in 2005 and in 2006 in the corresponding years. Similarly, Defence Minister AK Antony has said the army has been asked to "closely monitor" the situation all along the 742-km LoC to check the "pattern and strength" of infiltration bids. But every same person questions here that what are the ‘missing links’ between MoS Home Sriprakash Jaiswal and concerned agencies who just less than a month on May 9, 2007 apprised the Rajya Sabha about decline in cross-border infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir considerably.
