| 'Natwar's attack on PM lacks credibility' | | |
New Delhi, Aug 9 Accusing him of "betrayal", a senior Congress leader today critised former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh's attack on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and suggested it had no credibility because he has been "exposed" by the Pathak Authority. "These are comments by a person who has misused his position and himself has been exposed by the Pathak Committee report. His remarks and languages used about the Prime Minister are discourteous and regrettable", Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma said.
Replying to questions on the remarks made by Natwar soon after his suspension from the party that Prime Minister is "weak and has never won any elections," he said the former External Affairs Minister should introspect over the fact that Prime Minister and the Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi have given respect to him. "But what he did betrayal and misuse of his position".
Defending the Prime Minister, Sharma reminded that it was Manmohan Singh and the Congress party which gave him External Affairs Ministry. He has served under the same Prime Minister, about whom people are proud.
"He is a person of reason and his integrity is respected not only in India but across the globe".
Asked to comment on Natwar's threat that he too has information to reveal, Sharma said Natwar himself has been exposed before the nation. 'As far as Congress party is concerned, it is a 121 year old party. Natwar is because of the party and party is not because of Natwar". |
