| J&K lags behind in socio-economic development | | | Srinagar | June 7 Despite the state having the least proportion of people living below poverty line in the country, a report has said that Jammu and Kashmir has not done well in a number of areas like literacy, healthcare and industrial infrastructure. The findings were part of a report prepared by the Prime Minister's working group ensuring good governance in Jammu and Kashmir headed by N C Saxena. The report was submitted to the third roundtable conference on Kashmir. Despite the fact that the proportion of people below the poverty line in the state is least of all the states of the country, the state has not done well in terms of many other socio-economic indicators, the report said. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh formed five working groups after the first roundtable conference last year to address various issues concerning the state.
