| NSUI protests against autonomy, burns Omar’s effigy | | Senior leaders condemns baseless criticism of Rector Bhaderwah Campus | | Jammu | June 8 The activists of National Students Union of India (NSUI) registered their protest against the autonomy campaign launched by National Conference (NC) Chief Omar Abdullah during the recently held public meetings at Rajouri and Poonch. On the occasion, NSUI activists also burnt his effigy in Jammu University campus this afternoon. The activists around 30 in number assembled near Central Library of JU and raised slogans against Omar Abdullah. The protestors termed the behaviour of NC chief during his public rallies at Rajouri Poonch as anti national which insulted the nation publicly. Varinder Chib, General Secretary NSUI said that the autonomy campaign launched by NC chief was anti national which delivered wrong message among the public attended the rally. He also criticized Azad government of having soft stance towards such campaigns and lamented the role of administration during these meetings. Meanwhile, in reaction to the criticism of Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal (Rector Bhaderwah Campus) for poor management, senior leaders of NSUI condemned those who baselessly criticized the working of Prof Hamal. The criticism was just an attempt to malign the image of Prof Hamal by some self styled student leaders at the behest of some people, they added.
