| ‘Amrit Sanchar’, a historical event in J&K Sikh history: SAD | | |
JAMMU | JUNE 8 Taking of ‘Amrit Sanchar’ (holy water) on 10th of this month at Digiana Ashram here has been termed as a historical event in the history of Sikhs in Jammu and Kashmir State. Addressing a press conference here the members of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) said, a large number of Sikh youths will be baptized on this day, by taking holy water at Digiana Ashramm which in real sense is a Dera of Sikh dharam prachar established by Sant Bhai Pheru Singh, the first Sant, who himself had taken ‘Amrit’ from the hands of Shri Guru Gobind Singh. The present Mahant Manjit Singh is the 13th Sant of this Dera. In the conference SAD members jointly appealed to the Sikh Sangat at large to come forward and take holy water more than the target fixed by the Jathedar Sahiban of five Takhats, and become the disciple of Gursikh of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. They also appealed to Sikh Sangat to reject the nefarious designs of anti Panthic and so called representative,who are opposing Amrit Sanchar programme chalked out by the five Jethadars with the cooperation of Shiromani Gurudwara Committee Amritsar and Mahant Manjit Singh. They said opposition of Amrit Sancharis not only the opposition of Mahant Manjit Singh but of the entire Sikh community and as such we appeal to desist from such anti panthic activities and come forward to make success of this noble cause. The members also congratulated SGPC Amritsar as well as to Mahant Manjit Singh for shouldering a big responsibility of Amrit Sanchar organized by five Jethadar Singh Sahiban. Members of the SAD who spoke on this occasion were: Jagjit Singh Wazir, S. Tarlochan Singh Bijral, Shiv Rattan Singh, Gian Singh, S. Ranjit Singh, S.Avtar Singh and S. Kehar Singh.
