Keeping the heat on in the state politics president People’s Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti too has come forward with a over a week long schedule for the Rajouri Poonch region. During her tour she will be addressing a series of public meeting and all eyes are on how she will counter the allegations leveled by NC president Omar Abdullah, senior party sources said.
It has been recently noticed in the state politics that political parties have kept the public on its toes by addressing public rallies every now and then. Though the scheduled polling season is far away i.e. in 2008 the next year but all this active politicking of the state politics has set conjectures in the civil circles. Recently National Conference president and member parliament Omar Abdullah has completed his tour programme in Rajouri and Poonch. During his tour he criticized the arch rival PDP and coalition government and win big applauds from the public.
Now the ball is in the court of the PDP President who is starting here tour from June 11 with a Public rally at Surankote. ‘During her tour she will be addressing two public rallies at Poonch on June 12 and similar number of rallies at Mendher on June 13-14. She will be addressing public rallies at R S Pura, Marh, Nagrota, Jammu City on from June 15-18, party sources said.
Since the PDP has catapulted in power the party has expressed a devoted inclination towards the Rajouri Poonch and Doda Region which were earlier considered to be a bastion of National Conference. And it has been seen a sheer vengeance between the two if a senior leader of one party conducts a tour of this hilly belt with a marked presence of electoral of particular community the senior leader of the other party in a reflex action chalks out his/her programme to counter the allegations lobbed by the former visitor.
People in the twin border districts are just waiting to see which way the wind blows now and how will the President PDP Mehbooba Mufti counters the allegations lobbed by the NC president who outrightly rejected the party’s principles and ideology including sloganeering of reduction of troops etc.
Sources within party however claimed that no senior party cabinet minister is accompanying with party president but boastfully claimed that party president has a potential to steal the show for the party cadre. Party sources also added that her firebrand speeches not only attract crowd in party meetings but also work as lessons to party workers and other cadre just like a teacher’s lecture is of importance to the student especially at the time when examinations are at hand.
Mehbooba Mufti is expected to speak on self rule and reduction of troops to woo the public and to remove misconception created by various political rivals that PDP is campaigning against the Army through its reduction of troops slogan, party sources said.
