Floral tributes paid to Shaheed Vicky Singh
Chib inaugurates Martyr’s memorial by laying wreath

Senior Congress leader and MLC R S Chib today inaugurated the martyrs’ memorial constructed in the memory of Shaheed Vicky Singh at Rajpur Sajdan in RS Pura near here today by laying a wreath.
Shaheed Vicky Singh of 2nd Grenadiers laid down his life at Bandipura on June 9, 2006 in a counter insurgency operation in the age of only 21 years. The Memorial was inaugurated with wreath laying ceremony in which R.S.Chib, T.S.Bajwa MP,, Col, Karan Singh Sainik welfare officer, and father of Shaheed Vicky Singh paid floral tributes to the brave solider. The floral tributes were also paid by other prominent political and social leaders of the area.
While paying rich tributes to the martyr, Chib said that sacrifice made by Singh for the nation especially at such a young age cannot be forgotten by people of our country in general and the people of J&K in particular. He said that his sacrifice will inspire the younger generation and inculcate a sense of patriotism in them for serving the mother land. He further said though this loss cannot be compensated yet we feel proud that he laid down his life like other great heroes for the mother land.
Lauding the role of Security Forces and police, Chib said that their performance in countering the militancy in J&K and defending our territorial integrity has no parallels and would be remembered for long.
However, he expressed his dismay over absence of government representative at today’s function.
T.S.Bajwa in his tributes said that Vicky Singh was a great martyr who laid down his life for the sake of motherland and people of this area feel proud of him. He appealed the younger generation to follow the foot steps of Shaheed Vicky Singh in order to serve the mother land and defeat the nefarious designs of our neighbors who are hell bent to disintegrate the country.
Col. Karan Singh said that the Army has a glorious history and its sacrifice will not to go in vain and the Army is proud of such heroes. Sham Lal District President BJP, Rajesh Sharma Bittu ,chairman co-operative union ,Narayan Singh president Rajput Sabha Ssarpanch Dev Raj Choudahry ,Sarpanch Jasbir Lucky, Ch. Mohan Singh BSP leader Major Surinder Singh of 22 Rajput ,Pritam Singh Naib sarpanch and Daljeet Singh were among those who paid tributes to the martyr Singh.
