Unidentified militant killed, two Army men injured

An unidentified militant was gunned down by security forces in south Kashmir Border district Kupwara, while two Army men were injured during a search operation when one of their colleagues opened fire mistaking them as militants.

The militant was killed late last night after he landed in an ambush laid by SOG and 17 Dogra.

Official sources told News Agency of Kashmir that on specific information, SOG Kralpora and 17 Dogra laid an ambush at Kutchhama Kupwara and killed the militant after a brief encounter.

One AK rifle, three AK Magazines, seventy rounds of AK ammunition and one Pouch were recovered from possession of the slain militant.

The identity of the slain is yet to be ascertained.

At least two Army men received bullet injuries when they were fired upon by their own colleague during a cordon and search operation by Kupwara Police and 28 RR at Putushai Lolab.

"One of the jawan fired towards a Subedar and Rifle man mistaking them as militants" sources said adding that the injured army personnel were immediately shifted to hospital where their condition is stated to be stable. .

In yet another shoot out, a CRPF personnel and civilian were injured after Militants fired upon a patrolling party of CRPF 52 Bn at Khellan near Railway Track, in Awantipora area of Pulwama district,

Meanwhile, Unidentified militant triggered an IED near Nihalpora Link road at Pattan in district Baramulla, targeting the Security Force vehicles passing through the area.

However, no loss of life or injury to any one was reported. A case has been registered in Police Station Pattan in this regard and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits
