| Jammuties had company of blazing sun on sweltering sunday | | | Jammu, June 10 It was only the fury of the blazing sun and nothing else visible out on the deserted streets of Jammu on Sunday as most of the city denizens preferred to remain indoors braving recurrent power failure and short supply of water . But for those who can really afford the luxury of venturing out in the cool confines within and outside the state wasted little time and headed straight to the hill resorts of Patni top, Kud Batote, Dalhousie, and Mantalai to beat the scorching heat as mercury hovered around 45-46 degree celcius for the second consecutive day together. But majority of the labour class people were seen slogging out in the full glare of the sun at several construction sites relied simply on wet sheet of cloth used as head gear to beat the heat. Thier children present on the construction sites were seen playing in the open even as their mothers were taking turn to look after them. Large number of people were seen chasing water tankers to quench their thirst as large number of areas remained dry owing to poor voltage and short supply of water supply. Despite all this the pilgrim traffic to the famous Mata Vaishno devi shrine in Katra witnessed heavy rush as authorities faced tough time to regulate the rush. In the evening, as sun mellowed down a bit, ice cream parlours, and famous food joints were thronged by local residents in search of cool bite .Places like Rajinder park on Canal road, Akhnoor,Bag-e-Bahu,Har-Ki Paudi and several other parks witnessed heavy rush as people came out of their houses and visited their friends and loved ones.
