| Speaker visits Nathal, redress people's problems | | | JAMMU, JUNE 10 Speaker Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand today held a public darbar at village Nathal in Khour block about 80 kilometer away from here today to redress the genuine problems of the general masses. Addressing the gathering, Speaker said that since the coalition government took over massive development activities were undertaken in the three regions of the state. He said those areas which had been ignored previously were also brought under the ambit of development programme. He stated that equal share was given to every area irrespective of political considerations and adequate funds were allocated for the execution of various schemes. He said that Nathal village in Khour block has been left behind in developmental programmes during the NC government and assured that the development activities would soon get fillip. The local people and deputations from the adjoining areas of Khour block presented demands of their areas. The demands included compensation to affected families due to recent flood and storm, compensation of land which is convered by army, widow pension, plot for migrants families, black topping of various roads, new pump sets for agriculture, uninterrupted power supply, PHC at Nathal, adequate staff posted in Govt. High School Nathal, opening of new Government Girls Primary School Nathal, veterinary hospital, Upgradation of Balli School and Govt. Middle School Pukharni, Julla bridge at Nathal over Kannah nallah, construction of water tank at Baba Maymal temple, construction of Doori Dagger to Mallah, Nathal to Panaya and Nathal to Lala-de-Chawara roads. Responding to the demands of people, the Speaker gave on spot directions to all the concerned officers to take immediate necessary action in this regard and solved these one by one on priority basis. He also gave instructions to the officers to display the achievements and detail of development schemes in their office so that the people are fully aware with schemes and avail benefits at their doorsteps. He said that present government is made tremendous development in four and half years tenure and assured the gathering much more will be done in the remaining period of the Azad led government in the state. Speaker informed that the present government was already spent Rs. 12 crore for providing drinking water to the people of Kandi areas of Khour. He also informed that Rs. 6 crore has sanctioned for remaining areas of the block for providing adequate drinking water facilities at their doorsteps. He said that Rs. 70 lakh was spent for providing electricity to far-off areas of Sarialla and its adjoining villages. He said that the coalition government is making tireless efforts to provide road connectivity, adequate drinking water, electricity, repair and renovation of lanes, drains, by-lanes, opening and upgradation of educational institutions at their doorsteps for the benefit of all sections of the society. He said that no border village as well as hilly areas would remain unconnected up to the 300-soul population till 2009 saying that all the villages connected with city and town. Among others, Sarpanch Nathal Mr. Dhani Ram, Block President Khour, Mr. Puran Singh, Chairman and Vice-Chairman Municipal Committee Mr. Om Parkash and Mrs. Krishna Devi, and senior engineers of PDD, RDD, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control were also present.
