| Dalit Christians demand SC status | | | Jammu June 10—
Alleging discrimination with the Dalit Christians in every sphere of a live, Jammu and Kashmir Dalit Christian Association has impressed upon the newly appointed Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Caste to consider the genuine demand of the community for their inclusion in SC category.
Dalit Christians hoped that the newly appointed Chairman would consider the demand for giving benefits to Dalit Christians and Muslims among the Scheduled castes.
The Dalit leaders said that former Prime Minister .Indira Gandhi, had also announced 15 point program for the welfare and empowerment of the minorities in 1983 and have also appealed Sonia Gandhi, AICC President and state Chief Minister to provide representation to Dalit Christians in J&K Legislature and reservations in government jobs.
