| Relatives of missing persons hold protest | | | Srinagar, June 10 Relatives of missing persons held a protest demonstration in summer capital of the state, here today, under the banner of Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP). Following the expose of fake encounters - involving five innocent civilians who were allegedly abducted, dubbed as foreign militants and killed by Jammu Kashmir police officials and other security forces, the relatives of missing persons have intensified their protests in Valley. As per the survey conducted by various Human Rights Organizations working in Kashmir, thousands of persons have disappeared since inception of militancy in the valley. Holding the photographs of their missing sons and husbands, the protesting parents mostly woman, alleged that their wards have gone missing in the custody of security forces since 1990. They had assembled at the Partap Park here under the banner of Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP). "I am only asking one question to the officials that was my husband a militant or involved in any activity which led to his disappearance", questioned one of the protesting woman, alleging that his husband was arrested by Army from Rawalpora area and till now his whereabouts are not known. During these years of turmoil thousands of families got shattered in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Government is claiming that it was making all efforts to trace whereabouts of disappeared persons. "We have been knocking the doors of every one whom we feel can be of some help but all in vain", Abdul Shaban, a parent of a disappeared person told News Agency of Kashmir, adding that I saw my son when he left for school and then he never returned back.
