| Ved Bhasin unanimously elected JCC president | | | Jammu June 10 Jammu Consumer Council (JCC) has been reconstituted and the veteran Journalist and Chairman Kashmir Times Group of Publications Ved Bhasin has been unanimously elected as its president . The decision to this effect was taken at the general body meeting which met here today. Jatinder Bakshi and R K Chada were elected as Vice Presidents unopposed. J S Chouhan was appointed as Secretary General of Council replacing Dr Nirmal Kamal while Romesh Gupta was elected as cashier of the council for the year 2007-08. The outgoing General Secretary Dr. Nirmal Kamal presented the annual report listing achievements of the council during the last year, while Kewal Mahajan acted as the Election Commissioner. Speaking on the occasion, Bhasin assured the members that the new team will strive its best for the rights of the consumers. He said during the last 10 years, JCC has succeeded to build a strong consumer moment in Jammu region and announced that in the coming year, various chapters of consumer council will be opened in different schools, colleges and mohallas of far flung area of Jammu region so that the people of these areas could also be aware of the consumer rights. Nearly 40 members of the Council were present in the general meeting. Prominent among those were MM Khajuria, J S Jamwal, S.Teja Singh, Mrs Harbans Kour, Dr Shohab Inayat Malik, Prof Ayub Sheikh and SIH Qazmi. The council release said that President would nominate the other executive members shortly.
