Rehabilitation of border migrants discussed

JAMMU, JUNE 11
Asserting that rehabilitation of border migrants with adequate compensation and infrastructure forms the priority of coalition government, the Speaker Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand stressed for construction of alternate accommodation for the border inhabitants who were disturbed from their native places.
In a meeting the Deputy Commissioner Jammu Mr. Hirdesh Kumar Singh here today, Mr. Tara Chand said that the basic problems de-mining and tracterization has been completed to enable the border people to cultivate their land and earn their livings.
On rehabilitation, it was apprised that all the displaced 6072 families will be rehabilitated by providing Rs. 50,000 and five marla plot to each family for constructing their rooms in Khour block. He said that the identified 2331 kanals of land earmarked for 21 villages will be well developed with complete infrastructure and other facilities.
Additional DDC Jammu Mr. I. A. Zargar, Joint Director Information, Jammu, Mr. S. K. Sharma and Executive Engineer R&B were also present.
