| Javaid stress BSNL for improving tele-connectivity in the state | | | Srinagar, June 11 – Minister of State for Science and Technology Mr. Javaid Mustafa Mir today at a high level meeting with the representatives of officers of BSNL, Border Roads Organization (BRO), R&B and Information Technology departments reviewed the working situation of telecommunication facilities being provided to the people in the state. The meeting was attended among others by Principal Secretary Information Technology Mr. A. S. Sidhu, General Manager BSNL Kashmir Mr. Murli Dhar, Chief Engineer R&B Mr. Nazir Ahmad, and Chief Engineer BRO Kashmir Col. A. R. Mohan. The meeting was informed that 173 new sights have been identified for setting up of BSNL Tower in Kashmir valley for which land is being identified. It was told that by now 200 towers have been set up to provide better telecom facilities especially far off and rural areas which still are not availing these facilities. The meeting further informed that PWD would cooperate wherever necessary for laying under ground and tower facilities. The Minister on the occasion asked BRO to take into consideration the viewpoints of telecommunication in the department for laying lines on the roads maintaining by them. He asked the department to better the working of field staff so that hiccups in laying the telecomm lines are addressed. He also directed the BSNL to provide uninterrupted telecom facilities as there is a tremendous scope for improvement.
