| Karra for comprehensive employment programme | | | SRINAGAR, JUNE 11 – Minister for Finance and Planning Mr. Tariq Hamid Karra has emphasized the officers of government departments to come up with concrete proposals for Employment programme within a fixed time frame so that educated youth are offered employment under a comprehensive programme. He said that all announcements made during the budget session must be implemented in letter and spirit. The Minister was chairing a high level officers meeting held to review the progress made in the employment mission programme here today. Mr. Karra said that various schemes need to be designed keeping in view the potential of employment generation in a particular sector. He said that tourism, agriculture and horticulture are thrust areas where local educated youth can be absorbed and employment generated. However, this all needs to be done in single window system, he added. The meeting was apprised about the sectorwise feedback given by various departments identifying the areas where both skilled and unskilled youth can be absorbed. It was told that for promoting self-employment programme venture capital fund has been created involving the sustenance support from Bankers in the form of loan component of the venture. The Minister announced that sub-committee headed by Chairman J&K Bank would be constituted in a weeks time so that a proper analysis is done for identifying various schemes under different sectors where employment can be generated. Vyas, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Bank Dr. Haseeb Drabu. Secretary Tourism Mr. Nayeem Akhtar, Secretary Employment Mr. R. K. Thussu, Secretary Social Welfare Mr. N. K. Verma, Secretary Housing Mrs. Naseema Lankar besides other senior officers were present in the meeting.
