| PDP-Cong still aiming at each other on troops and AFSPA issue | | Reconciliation process under stress –claims Mufti; Azad counters situation not conducive | |
Jammu June 12 There is no stopping to the big players of the coalition - the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and the Congress enforcing them to enter into a wordy war that in fact has kept the happenings heated up. Earlier, for the three years people of state have witnessed a wordy war between the Governor of state Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha and Mufti Mohammed Sayeed over the time duration of the Amarnath Yatra while for the last two years the same situation has emerged but with changed players and a changed game. Continuing the wordy war initiated since November 2005, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed referring to PM’s declaration saying "the destinies of the people of India and Pakistan are interlinked and they must find the pathways to resolve issues and live together" remarked that this is meaningless unless his earlier commitments with Jammu & Kashmir are not accomplished. Mufti addressing PDP legislators and the party functionaries from Anantnag and Pulwama districts on Monday said that the current peace process, initiated in April 2003, had faced some hawkish stances that have ‘nudged the reconciliatory moves’. It is to mention that reiterating ‘troop cut and withdrawal of the AFSPA’ Muftis- duo both father and daughter had been rephrasing to reinforce the people's trust and faith in the democratic institutions which can be never done under the shadow of gun. Duo had been stressing it in each and every public meeting be it in Srinagar or at Rajouri these days. The wordy war has entered into a phase where strong words too have been lobbed upon either side like on June 1 Mehbooba Mufti in an interaction with CNS a Kashmir based news agency stated that Chief Minister has no mandate to talk about troop cut. PDP and the Congress are locked horns over the issue of troops reduction and withdrawal of AFSPA and to diffuse the volatile situation the Congress think tanks played a card of better giving wool then the whole sheep and constituted three Committees to review the PDP’s stand over Troops Cut but it has not changed the situation as expected by Congress think tank. Following the strong notions from the PDP over this issue, both the chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and his band has countered the same by emphasizing loudly upon ‘no to troops reduction’ stressing the time is not appropriate for the same. The Congress has been outrightly negating the PDP’s demand that has been insisting upon the troops cut stressing this step alone could normalize the situation. Whatever the Congress cadre do the Muftis know that he will get the milk who cries the loudest and thus has held the trumpet of ‘troops cut’ in their hands, is a common believe among the masses.
