| Mumtaz joins PDP | | | Jammu , June 12: Mumtaz Bukhari, a prominent social and political activist from Surankote today joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) pledging his unflinching support to the party agenda. A retired Block Medical Officer, Mumtaz has been actively involved in the political and social activities working for the upliftment of the area's people, a press release by the party said. Welcoming Dr Mumtaz to the party fold, PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti said people from across the State have developed strong faith in the PDP's pro-people policies and they see it as their sole voice. She said the party's people-oriented measures have given a new hope to the people, especially in the remote and far-flung areas of the State, who have remained neglected all these years. Mehbooba said the relief on the security and development fronts people got during the first three years of the Coalition Government is being widely acknowledged as the people felt the difference on the ground. She said the greatest strength for the PDP is its goodwill among the masses and the party would continue to pursue the same at whatever cost. Mehbooba is currently touring the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. She is accompanied by PDP leaders Murtaza Khan, Basharat Bukhari, Rafiq Hussain Khan, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Dhaman Bhasin and others.
