| 10 kgs Charas recovered, 2 drug smuggler lands in police custody | | |
Srinagar June 12
Police arrested two drug smugglers with a consignment of Charas weighing about ten kilograms in Awantipora on Jammu-Srinagar National-Highway, Tuesday morning.
Giving details a senior police officer said that acting on a tip off police laid a naka at Awantipora this morning and intercepted an Auto Rickshaw (JK03-2460).
"Two persons traveling in the auto were questioned but they failed to give satisfactory reply", he said adding, "They were subjected to frisking during which about some packets were recovered from their possession".
The packets on examination were found to be carrying Charas. The total weight of the consignment is ten kilogram, he added.
He identified the accused as Muhammad Amin Bhat son of Habibullah of Jablipora Bijbehara and Fida Hussain son of Ghulam Muhammad of Goriwan Bijbehara.
Informed sources said that the consignment was to handed over to a middle man to be smuggled to Jammu.
