Rs.15 lakhs distributed as age old pension

Kargil | June 12
At the 3-day awareness and disbursement camp organized by the Social Welfare Department, over Rs.15 lakh of old age pension was disbursed among 981 beneficiaries under Integrated Social Security Scheme and Rs. 5.00 lakhs disbursed among 199 beneficiaries of Kargil block under National Old Age pension scheme.
The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karbalaie who was chief guest on the occasion said that Social welfare department is playing an important role in helping the poor and physically challenged persons and asked to the functionaries of department to organize such camps in every block of the district so that the beneficiaries get hassle free payments on time.
Referring the General Council meeting of LAHDC, Kargil held recently, Karbalaie said that equal share and adequate allocation of funds was given to every area and block irrespective of caste, religion and region for the execution of various developmental schemes. He stressed the need to rise above the party politics and work unitedly for over all development of Kargil district.
District Social Welfare Officer, Kargil Mohammed Hassan in his address said that an amount of Rs. 9.80 lakhs have also been disbursed among 98 beneficiaries at the rate of 10,000 under National family benefit pension scheme. He said presently there are 4438 beneficiaries in the district, of which 1535 are physically challenged, 1066 women in distress and 1837 are old age pensioners for which necessary incentives are being disbursed under district and state sector of various schemes.
