| Mayor to quash drivers’ selection list | | |

Expressing surprise over the way the list of drivers got published in some local dailies, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Nariender Singh said that this list does not have his approval and would be accordingly quashed.
A number of Corporators’ questioning about the validity of the list expressed their concern over the haphazard manner in which the interviews and tests for recruitment of drivers was conducted.
It was learnt that 21 drivers were selected by the Regional Transport Officer, who passed the test, while the list published in local newspapers carried names of 40 persons, some of whom even did not appear in the test, the Corporators said.
Assuring the agitating Corporators, Mayor said that he will look into the matter and reprimand those who showed undue haste in publishing and finalizing the list without his approval. He said that the list in question would be quashed which has reportedly be prepared by adopting fraudulent means and those found guilty will be punished as per the provisions of the Municipal Act.
