| JK Writers Association organizes seminar on “Dograin da Yogdan” | | | Jammu June 12— In order to giving a push to the writers of Dogri origin, Jammu and Kashmir Progressive Writers Association organized a seminar titled, “1857 Di Parisht Bhumi Te Aazadi Di Ladai Ch Dogrian Da Yogdan” here today. The seminar was presided over by Major General G. S. Jamwal and the Chief Guest of the function was Professor Anita Baloria .Professor Jigar Mohammad, HOD History Department, of University of Jammu was the guest of honour. President, Jammu and Kashmir Progressive Association, Mohan Singh delivered the welcome address and stressed upon rethinking about the role of the Dogras for building the nation. He disclosed that the first war for freedom was not fought in 1957; it was fought in 1846, by a brave Dogra of Noorpur Ram Singh Pathania, when he was arrested and died in jail. In spite of that the Jammu region was free from the clutches of Bristish rule at that time , but the people of ‘ Duggar land’, Dogras were fully involved in this struggle and gave their lives for the cause of the country. General Secretary of the association presented vote of thanks and also announced that the association is also planning to organize series of this type of seminars in future in different parts of Jammu region.
