Azad asks Congress workers to be ambassadors of peace, progress
Says drive against corruption to continue with full vigour

Asking Congress workers to strengthen their rank and file and make public aware of the far-reaching measures government has taken during last nineteen months, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Congress workers should act as ambassadors of peace and progress and serve as bridge between government and people.
Addressing party workers’ convention of Kupwara district at Handwara today, Chief Minister said that the main objective behind holding district-wise party conventions is to sensitize workers about the tremendous socio-economic change set in motion by the Congress-led government in the state. “You are the spokesmen of the party and required to disseminate the pro-people steps government has taken”.
. Azad said historic decisions regarding eradication of corruption, monitoring of development works, creation of healthy work culture, bringing transparency in the administration and launching highest-ever public infrastructure development programme in the state has to be popularized among the people so that they also contribute in the gigantic task of socio-economic transformation Congress-led government has initiated in the state.
Giving details of the reformative and progressive measures his government has taken to remove the stigma of second corrupt state from the face of Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister said that his drive against corrupt elements will continue with full energy.
Urging upon Congress workers to extend their full support to him in his mission of creating corruption-free political and administrative system in the state and serving as catalysts in development process, he said “you have to grow as role-models and create history by freeing the society from the evils of mal-practices, nepotism and exploitation, and lay edifice of system based on principles of justice and rule of law”.
Chief Minister said that conferring free ownership rights on 17 lakh kanals of state land to farmers under Roshni scheme, creation of eight new districts, three sub-divisions and 12 tehsils, bringing legislations for downsizing ministry, curbing political defection, strengthening anti-corruption laws, creation of finance commission and bringing every area of the state under the ambit of massive development are some of the achievements Congress workers can reckon with and circulate the message about the party’s pro-people and above board policy programmes.
JKPCC President and Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed while speaking on the occasion stressed upon Congress workers to be united and foil designs of vested interests who want to create wedge between people of various shades.
Speaking about basic issues confronting people, Peerzada Sayeed gave resume of several programmes and schemes launched by the government in all the three regions of the state to mitigate the grievances of people. He said a lot of development work is under execution and more are in pipeline to achieve the dream of khushal Jammu and Kashmir dreamt by Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Expressing satisfaction over the functioning of district, tehsil and block headquarters of Congress party in the state, Mr. Sayeed impressed upon the workers to work for progress and prosperity of the state by engaging themselves in public service with dedication and zeal.
Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Mr. Ghulam Rasool Kar also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of Congress-led government under the stewardship of Mr. Azad. They said the secular and democratic characteristics of Congress have made the party heartbeat of people in the country.
