Cabinet approves Janta Insurance for employees,
sanctions creation of police range, relocation of jurisdiction

Srinagar, June 12
- State Cabinet which met here yesterday has accorded sanction to the renewal/extension of Group Janta Personal Accidental Insurance Policy for the year 2007-08 for Rs. 3.40 lakh state government employees including ESUs, PSUs, autonomous bodies, local bodies, daily rated workers existing as on 31.1.1994 for an insurance sum of Rs. 2.50 lakh per employee. The annual premium will be Rs. 120 per person per year. The Policy shall be effective for a period of 12 months commencing from mid-night of 18th April 2007 when the present policy has expired. The policy has been tided up with ICICI Lombard.
The Cabinet also accorded sanction for administrative approval for widening and upgrading of road from Leh town to Leh airport to 4-lane specification at an estimated cost of Rs. 857.78 lakhs.
In another decision Cabinet accorded sanction to creation of police range Udhampur comprising of Udhampur and Reasi districts with headquarter at Udhampur.
Cabinet also approved relocation and re-defining of the jurisdiction of police ranges as under:-
1. DIG (CKR) Srinagar range will be headquartered at Srinagar with jurisdiction comprising revenue districts of Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Leh and Kargil.
2. DIG (NKR) Baramulla range will be headquartered at Baramulla with jurisdiction comprising revenue districts of Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara.
3. DIG (SKR) Anantnag range to be headquartered at Anantnag with jurisdiction comprising revenue districts Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian.
4. DIG Doda to be headquartered at Doda having jurisdiction comprising revenue districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.
5. DIG Udhampur to be headquartered at Udhampur with jurisdiction comprising revenue districts of Udhampur and Reasi.
6. DIG Jammu to be headquartered at Jammu with jurisdiction of Jammu, Samba and Kathua revenue districts.
7. DIG Rajouri to be headquartered at Rajouri with jurisdiction of Rajouri and Poonch revenue districts.
