On the concluding day of the 36 hours sit-in-hunger strike of State BJP, galaxy of senior leaders joined the hunger striking party workers to boost their morale. Later, they addressed them too. BJP State President Ashok Khajuria, in his address, said that the hopes of the Jammuites have been dashed by the non-performance and incompetence of the Congress-PDP coalition under Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi AzadThe voters of even his home constituency, who had, under false expectations and hopes overwhelmingly voted for him are painfully disillusioned now and should Ghulam Nabi Butt Azad again seek mandate from the same constituency, he will lose even his security deposit. Khajuria said that notwithstanding CM’s assertion for being a Jammuites has utterly proved to be servile to Kashmiri leadership of the coalition and has continued with the anti-Jammu and anti-Dogra policies like that of NC, PDP and others. He appealed the people of Jammu region not to fall prey to the assertions of the present coalition partners as being true and sincere to the Jammu region. BJP National Executive Member & former State President Dr. Nirmal Singh, while speaking on the law and order front, in his address, said that the activities of anti-national forces have become more pernicious and extensive. Terrorist outfits like Al-Qaida too has reportedly announced its establishment in the state. The anti-national forces have penetrated even in the police force also. The police itself had to order inquiry into the recent martyrdom of Dy. SP Shailley Singh. To top it all, the state government is openly protecting all such police officers who have led a reign of terror and are harassing the members of a particular community, especially in Doda, Bhaderwah and Kishtwar districts. The recent cases of custodial killings, repeated rape and inhuman treatment to the family members of one Madan Lal, who was tortured to death in police custody, speaks of the unchecked police goondaism. He demanded CBI inquiry into all the cases of atrocities by police against the members of minority community in militancy-infested areas. He also criticized the successive state government for adopting different yardsticks as far as grant of citizenship rights is concerned. He said while a Muslim from Central Asia or any other place is granted citizenship in the state, refugees from West Pakistan, PoK, Refugees of 1965 and 1971 have been denied such rights as most of them are Hindus. Daya Krishan Kotwal and Ramesh Arora, in their addresses, charged the state government of intentionally being ignoring the demand of strengthening of VDCs in Doda, Bhaderwah and Kishtwar districts. They said although the members of VDCs are giving a befitting reply to the militants who have been equipped with modern and sophisticated weapons, provision of sophisticated weapons to the members of VDCs will help them fighting the militants in a more effective way and the militants would be flushed out from these areas. They also demanded enhancement in the monthly emoluments of VDC members. Bali Bhagat, Rajesh Gupta, Kavinder Gupta, Smt. Usha Choudhary, Smt. Sureshta Jamwal, Smt.
