Army launches 'Khush hal' borders campaign
6/13/2007 12:32:52 AM

Rajouri, May 12
The armed forces deployed in the frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch have extended a helping hand to the ‘Khushhal Kashmir’ campaign launched by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the state. Though the name of the campaign is slightly different and confined to the border areas only but the purpose and target of both the Khushhal campaigns seems one.
For the past over one month, DAH Division of army stationed at Rajouri, has launched a campaign in all those villages located along LoC in Rajouri –Poonch districts. The very purpose of the campaign under the banner of ‘Khushhal Sarhad’ ( Happy Borders) is to bring back the smiles on the faces of the residents along the LoC what they have lost due to the various reasons of seventeen years old turmoil in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
For this, various teams of DAH Division army has launched a door to door campaign to get the first hand experience of the problems being faced by the people residing near the fence. And later, their problems are resolved as per their requirements. The special teams of army doctors also go door to door to provide the residents health facilities at their door steps with complete follow up of the disease.
“Apart from the medical facilities, we also inquire about the other problems being faced by the residents. Our only thrust is to make the inhabitants along the LoC as happy as other residents residing in the peaceful areas. As yet we have visited about 2500 families along the LoC and all efforts are being made to bring back the smiles on their faces”, GOC DAH Division Maj Gen. Rajinder Singh told The Early Times during an exclusive interaction with this correspondent here today.
He said the ‘Khushhal Sarhad’ campaign was launched by army after conceiving the idea that the residents along LoC were deprived of all the basic facilities and requirements of the life. “ The borders can only be happy when the residents of the borders are made happy by providing them all the basic facilities of life. We have planned various projects to be carried out along the LoC shortly”, said Maj Gen. Rajinder Singh, adding that hese projects will include heath facilities , infrastructure for education and other requirements of life.
