Jammu June 14
State BJP General Secretary & former MLA Bali Bhagat has expressed his concern over the submerging of foot-suspension bridge at Village Marsoo due to Pondage of Baglihar Hydro-Electric Project, dam cutting. Bhagat said demanded early construction of the only linkage for 60,000 people of Siraz area of Doda tehsil cut off from the rest of state.
In his statement he stated that the supply of ration, medicines and other essential commodities too had got disrupted, lodging people in the far-flung area of Bibrota, Chaka-Kundi-Chuchiter, Top Neel, Bhartund, Shamthi, Gagla, Kotli and other villages in difficulties. Bali Bhagat said that the foot-suspension bridge at village Trungal had already got washed away in June 2005 due to flash flood in Chenab and criticized the state government for not taking any concrete measure to reconstruct the bridge. Bali Bhagat demanded that the construction of motorable bridge at Trungal over river Chenab be taken up on war-footing and another foot-suspension bridge at Marsoo be put in place immediately to provide connectivity. He mentioned that last year during the Board of Director’s meeting of Power Development Corporation (PDC) Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad himself has announced a motorable bridge at Trungal and foot-suspension bridge at Marsoo but nothing has been done on grounds till date.
The BJP leader demanded airdropping of ration, medicines and other essential commodities in Siraz area while Bali Bhagat accompanied with other party cadre rushed to Assar to take stock of situation.
