Awami Darbar convened at Surankote

To know the genuine problems, infrastructural difficulties, real needs of people of tehsil Surankote and to take on spot decisions, District Development Commissioner Poonch Mr. J. S. Pachnanda alongwith all district and revenue officers visited Surankote and convened Awami Darbar at Surankote.
Panchs, Sarpanchs, prominent people and general public of remote and far-flung areas of the tehsil attended the darbar which has been convened on the directions of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad.
On the demand of the people residing across Nallah Suran, the DDC assured them that the matter will be projected before the government for provision of funds of this road which comes under state sector.
It was also disclosed in the darbar that the work on improvement and upgradation of 23 km Jarran Wali Gali- Mendhar road amounting to Rs. 66 lakh would start soon. About 73 representations and grievances of the inhabitants of various villages were discussed thoroughly with district officers and disposed off for appropriate action. Seven cheques of old age pension were distributed among the identified beneficiaries.
Regarding demand of people of nine villages including Surankote town for proper potable drinking water, directions were issued to redress the grievances immediately. The problem of the people pertaining to Horticulture, EM & RE, Social Welfare, Agriculture, Education and Rural Development Departments were also discussed. The sectoral officer present in the darbar was directed to take action on the demand of the people immediately and report back to the Awami Darbar cell.
The DDC said that the basic aim of Awami Darbar is to quality the problems of the people at grass root level and project the genuine needs in the annual plan for approval from District Development Board. Two committees were constituted for conducting on spot enquiries in the allegations leveled by the public against developmental works undertaken by some departments.
