| Govt committed to all round development: Baig asserts | | | Srinagar, August 09– Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Muzaffar Hussain Baig today asserted that coalition government is committed to all round development of the state particularly the far-flung and underdeveloped areas. He said the Government’s twin objective of peace and development is set to change the socio developmental profile of Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a series of public meetings at Kachwa, Kalantra, Nilsar, Sultanpura and other adjoining areas, Mr. Baig said the past three years’ performance of the government has seen considerable improvement in road connectivity, drinking water facilities and other areas of infrastructure. He said the government has ensured that every penny got for the welfare of the state is spent properly and proportionately. Mr. Baig said the government is keen that the fruits of development reach people at grassroot level in every region and area of Jammu and Kashmir. He asked the engineering departments to expedite the works under execution given the limited working season in the Valley. He said keeping the limited working season in mind the government has introduced double shift system so that execution time is saved and projects and schemes are completed at the earliest. Asking people to take benefit of the welfare schemes launched by the government, Deputy Chief Minister appealed parents in far off areas to get their wards educated in order to change their lot. He said youth are the future of society and asked them to prepare for the challenges of future. He said the government is making all out efforts to root out corruption from the administration and society so that a prudent and transparent system is put in place. Mr. Baig said the coalition government is working on a twin objective of restoring peace in the state and setting the pace for a development revolution in Jammu and Kashmir. He said peace and Indo-Pak friendship is in the best interest of the people of the state and hoped that violence gives way to dialogue. He hoped that the opening of road links across LoC would usher in prosperity and development for the people of the two countries. During his visit, the Deputy Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation of some schemes and projects. |
