| Attempt to attack CM condemned | | | Jammu June 15 Sh. Krishan Lal Gupta, Secretary J&K Pradesh Congress Committee has condemned the attempt by the terrorists to target the state Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni, during their visit to the under construction complex of Institute of Hotel Management, close to police station Raj Bagh Srinagar, last evening. He has commended the timely preventive action of the state intelligence and alert police to file this attempt, by apprehending the two Pak national fidayeen, who on interrogation have revealed that they were deputed to target the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni. Mr. Gupta has expressed deep concern that the secessionist terrorists, sponsored by Pakistan, have been repeatedly trying to kill the Chief Minister Mr. Azad. But the providence and alertness of the security agencies has been foiling the evil designs of the terrorists. This was the second attempt on the life of Chief Minister, within three days, with terrorist earlier making an abortive attempt at the life of Chief Minister on Tuesday at Hindwara, where Azad had gone to address a public meeting. Mr. Gupta appreciated the courage and fortitude of the Chief Minister, who undeterred by the terrorists' attempts on his life carried on his scheduled engagements. Criticizing the repeated demands by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, his daughter Mehbooba Mufti and other PDP leaders for demilitarization of the states, Mr. Gupta said that raising this demand, at a time when terrorism has resurfaced in the state, with their disruptive acts getting a new dimension and height, is against the national interest and the interest of restoration of peace and normalcy in the state. Mr. Gupta has further said that the PDP whose policies and line of action have been against the interest of country's solidarity as well as against the urges and aspirations of the people of Jammu, has no place in Jammu region.
