Infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals on rise
‘Intruders are let off without action’

Jammu | JUNE 15
The infiltration of Bangladeshis and Pakistanis are on rise, especially in R.S.Pura sector, and during the last one year alone nearly 50 bangladeshis were arrested in R.S.Pura, 30 at Akhnoor and 25 at Samba besides10 Pakistanis were arrested by the Army, Border security force and the police.
On an average 10 Bangladeshis are arrested every month in R.S.Pura while trying to cross over to Pakistan but the forces have failed to arrest those persons who been alluring them to send them to Pakistan for green pastures.
According to reports some persons namely Kalu, Sidhu and Noor Mohammed, who have been working as conduits had promised some of the Bangladeshi nationals that they would arrange their visit to Pakistan in lieu of money consideration.
Despite large scale arrests the accused go scot free as no action worth the name is being initiated against them which could prove deterrent and help in checking the growing trend of infiltration. The arrested infiltrators are being let off by the investigation agencies without going into their modus operandi.
The border crossing especially for the Bangladeshi nationals has become a routine affair and with the help of local agents they cross over to this side and finally land in Pakistan after paying hefty sums to the agents. However, in many cases, the agents have reportedly duped them and left them in lurch after accepting money for arranging their transportation to Pakistan. While they (the agents) allure them to manage their visit to Pakistan, they bring them to RS Pura, Samba and Akhnoor sectors and give slip after receiving money. Since the infiltrators are unaware of the routes, they get arrested and in the most of the cases released after preliminary inquiry from the Army and BSF troops deployed on International border
According to reports three Bangladesh, two Afghan and one Pak nationals were arrested on July 25 last year at IB in R.S.Pura while 16 Bangladeshis were apprehended while crossing the IB at Sangral post on September 21 last.
On January 12 this year, a Pakistani national was arrested by BSF 52Bn near Budbar post while another Pak national was arrested on February 1 by the local people of village Gharana. Similarly on March 20, eight Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by 129 BN of BSF at Sangarl post.
A Pak national was arrested on December 20 last along with 25 kg of heroin worth Rs.25 crore in the international market. In addition, two Bangladeshis were arrested on May 17 and ten were apprehended only two days back.
Meanwhile SSP Jammu Mukesh Singh talking to Early times said ‘it is very difficult to identify the intruders as they mostly come from different modes of transport’ however, the SSP Border Rajinder Gupta said that strict instructions have been passed on to nab any suspect adding that the services of panches and sarpanches have also been sought for identifying the intruders, besides setting up of a flying squad in the border areas to keep an eye of the movement of the suspects.
