BJP activists hold dharna at Assar
6/16/2007 12:19:44 AM

RAMBAN June 15- Hundreds of party activists and local residents led by State BJP General Secretary and former MLA Bali Bhagat, today held dharna at Assar in Ramban district demanding immediate construction of foot-suspension Bridge at Village Marsoo, motorable bridge at Trungal and attaching of areas of Assar block falling in Ramban with Ramban district.
Bali Bhagat, while addressing the gathering, said that thousands of people of Siraz area of Doda district are suffering due to no road connectivity as the only foot suspension bridge at village Marsoo has got sub-merged recently. How serious the government is towards the mitigation of the problems being faced by the masses in far flung areas is clear from the fact that another bridge at Trungal over river Chenab which got washed away in June 2005 has not been constructed despite the fact that decision for its construction was taken in the Board of Director’s meeting of Power Development Corporation in which the State Chief Minister himself was present, added Bali Bhagat.
Bali Bhagat, while demanding construction of the bridge at Marsoo and another bridge at Trungal, warned of “Raasta Roko Andolan” in case these bridges are not constructed within ten days. He also demanded amendment in SRO 185 and attaching with Ramban the areas of Assar which fall in Ramban.
Municipal Committee President Batote S. Ravinder Singh, District. Vice-President Rashpal Singh, Mandal President Shashi Pal Goswami, Krishan Lal, Swami Raj and Ex-Sarpanch Om Parkash were prominent among those who also addressed those sitting on dharna.
