| Manjit, Jamwal reviews arrangements for Sidh Goria, Baba Chamlayal mela | | Devotees to get additional bus services | |
SAMBA, JUNE 15 Minister of State for Education and Food & Supplies S Manjit Singh accompanied by District Development Commissioner Samba Mr B S Jamwal today reviewed arrangements for 7-day Baba Sidh Goria mela commencing from 24th of June and Baba Chamlayal mela to be held on 28th of June 2007 here today. More than 2 lakh devotees from all parts of the country throng this sacred Baba Chamlayal temple every year to pay obeisance at the shrine besides getting themselves cured by certain skin diseases. The meeting discussed in detail the arrangements being made by all the departments for smooth and successful conduct of these religious celebrations. Several multi-pronged strategies were also deliberated upon to make the melas more attractive and enjoyable. The Minister and the DDC were informed that in addition to main roads some alternative link roads are being repaired to facilitate the people to the mela sites besides RTO will ensure additional service of 12 vehicles to Chamlayal and 8 to Baba Sidh Goria for convenient transportation of the devotees. Likewise, PHE will keep available two water tankers with the development of required staff during the mela days. The Minister asked the traffic authorities to keep close coordination with the BSF authorities to ensure smooth flow of traffic during mela days. Mr Manjit Singh said that release of funds will not be an impediment for successful and peaceful conduct of these religious celebrations. He said that he will even arrange funds out of his CDF to ensure better services to the devotees. Mr Jamwal emphasized upon the traffic authorities to ensure strict adherence to traffic rules and parking of vehicles on prescribed places. In this regard, he also sought people’s complete cooperation. He asked the concerned officers and officials to channelize their services more efficiently and perform with utmost zeal and dedication so as to win people’s faith in government agencies. The meeting was also apprised that sanitation authorities will establish 40 temporary toilets, 20 each Baba Chamlayal and Baba Sidh Goria. The dignitaries exhorted upon the PDD to ensure timely and uninterrupted power supply to the mela sites as it would directly affect the water supply. They also asked the police authorities to keep a vigil over eve-teasing, pick-pocketing and other untoward incidents as such acts can create a b ad impression among the people across the nation in view of its religious and spiritual importance. Among others concerned Tehsildars, Block Development Officer Vijaypur, Naib Tehsildars, concerned engineers, AEEs, Traffic authorities, BSF, Sarpanches and panches, local and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
