| Mangat distributes cheques, sewing machines among beneficiaries | | | JAMMU, JUNE 15 Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma distributed cheques and sewing machines among 276 beneficiaries under various social welfare schemes at an impressive function organized by the Social Welfare department Jammu at Roop Nagar here today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharma said that the government present brought a discernible change in every parameter of development front and is continuing with the same spirit to steer the state towards peace and progress. He also appreciated the efforts of the department for creating such type of programmes for the benefit of weaker section of the society. He stressed upon the people to come forward and take maximum benefit of several schemes sponsored by the centre and state government. He further said that every citizen has equal stake in peace and development process and added that unified efforts are imperative to cultivate peace for large interest of the state. Later, Minister distributed 238 cheques including 138 undero old aged pension scheme, 45 to widows, 50 to physical handicapped persons and 5 number of cheques amounting Rs. 10,000 each were distributed to beneficiaries under national family benefit scheme (NFBS) besides distributing 38 sewing machines to several categories on the occasion. District Social Welfare Officer Mr. Khalid Jahangir gave detailed account of the incentives available with the department and steps initiated to create maximum awareness for successful implementation of various schemes under social welfare department. He said that after receiving the cheque, the beneficiaries open their account in J&K Bank branch only with minimum amount of Rs. 50 and then they provided an account number and other bank details in his office. Among others Ex. MLA Mr. Shiv Dev Singh, Corporator, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
